Desktop File Sync Tool

We’re delighted to confirm the launch of our “Desktop file synch tool” that enables folders on your PC or Mac to be automatically synchronised with folders within collabor8online.

What It Does

The tool will automatically synchronise the contents of any folder on your PC or Mac with a selected folder on Collabor8online. Once launched, the synchronisation takes place automatically in the background (approximately at 5 min intervals). The system scans the local and remote contents and determines which (by virtue of date stamp and timestamp) is the most recent version and “synchronises” as required.

How It Does it

A small Application is downloaded onto your local PC or Mac (an up-to-date version of Java is required), once installed and setup, local and remote folders can be selected (for synchronisation) and thereafter synchronisation is automatic.

How To Set it Up

1. Click on the download the sync tool button fro the left hand navigation bar, within Collabor8online (NOTE this is only visible to system administrators)

2. Run the application (in the case of Windows and follow the installation instructions) Or for MAC users unzip the application run the instalation  tool “C8ODesktopSync”.

3. Double-click the .jar file to run (recent version of Java required, systems may ask for permission to Run)

4. The application will display a “8” icon in your system tray.

5. Click on the 8 icon (or right click on Windows) to display options

6. Select setup to choose local and remote folders to synchronise

7. Options – “pause” pauses synchronisation, “synchronise” synchronises folders (overriding default five minute interval)
