Forward thinking contractors D & L Electrical (NW) Limited recognised that in the modern marketplace contractors need to innovate to stay ahead and above all maintain a high commitment to customer service at all times. D&L offer a full range of design and installation services, but the companies’ move in to the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) was a key element in the decision to adopt collabor8online as their own project extra-net.
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent scheme that certifies renewable energy products and installers in accordance with consistent standards. It is designed to evaluate microgeneration products and installers against robust criteria providing greater protection for consumers. An essential aspect within the strict standards demanded by the scheme is the publication and sharing of project documentation before, during and after completion of any project.
Using collabor8online D&L can store standard documentation on forms in one central repository that can be accessed from both office, home or on site as required. Standard and current documentation templates are therefore available to all engineers at all times. Processes, procedures and quality assurance documents are also stored, making access and retrieval quick and easy whilst offering system security.
Live projects can be stored separately with access granted only to those who have active involvement with any particular projects. On the rare occasions when things go wrong, customer complaints are also stored (and can be held for any length of time), whilst this may seem a minor detail it is a key element in meeting the strict standards associated with the MCS certification scheme.
MD Dave Moran, adds
Collabor8online met all our requirements with regards to providing a documentation extranet for our MCS work, were already looking at how we can extend its usage to other areas of our business, but so far we’ve been delighted with the results. Most importantly it sets us apart from all the contracting organisations who aren’t offering this type of service ”.
